Project Vision

PROJECT VISION

This tiny home embraces a contemporary eco-modern design philosophy, demonstrating how compact architecture can provide a sophisticated, flexible, and sustainable living environment. The design maximizes every square foot through thoughtful spatial planning, multifunctional interiors, and a seamless relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces.

The home's architectural expression is defined by a bold yet restrained composition of rectilinear forms clad in natural and charred wood finishes. Rather than concealing its compact footprint, the design celebrates it by emphasizing efficient planning, vertical living, and a strong connection to nature. Large expanses of glazing, rooftop outdoor space, and integrated landscape features create an experience that feels significantly larger than the home's physical dimensions.

Sustainability is central to the concept. Passive daylighting, natural ventilation, a vegetated green roof, and durable low-maintenance materials work together to create a home that is environmentally responsible while maintaining a refined contemporary aesthetic.

Exterior Finishes & Features

The exterior combines warm natural materials with modern detailing to create a home that is both visually striking and environmentally responsive.

Exterior Materials

The primary façade is finished with a combination of:

  • Vertical stained wood siding in deep olive-green tones

  • Charred or dark-stained timber cladding used as accent volumes

  • Natural cedar feature panels surrounding the entry

  • Black aluminum window systems

  • Contemporary metal flashing and trim

  • Minimal steel guardrails

The contrast between the warm cedar, dark timber, and muted green siding gives the building depth while allowing it to blend naturally into a garden setting.

Green Roof

One of the defining architectural features is the vegetated green roof, which softens the building's geometry while providing numerous environmental benefits, including stormwater retention, improved insulation, reduced heat gain, and increased biodiversity. The roof also serves as an accessible outdoor terrace, extending the home's usable living area.

Outdoor Living

The exterior living spaces are designed as an extension of the interior.

Features include:

  • Expansive wood deck

  • Built-in concrete fire pit

  • Retractable awning for shade

  • Raised planting beds

  • Native landscape planting

  • Rooftop terrace

  • Private courtyard enclosed by horizontal wood privacy fencing

The landscape creates a tranquil outdoor room that enhances privacy while strengthening the home's connection to nature.

Interior Finishes
The interior reflects a minimalist Scandinavian-inspired palette, emphasizing light, simplicity, and natural materials.
Flooring
Large-format charcoal porcelain tile is used throughout the main living level, providing durability and a clean contemporary appearance. The dark flooring creates contrast against the white cabinetry while helping to visually anchor the interior.
Sleeping areas incorporate warm natural wood flooring, creating a softer, more intimate atmosphere.
Walls
Walls are finished with smooth white painted gypsum board, maximizing reflected daylight and contributing to the home's bright, open feeling.
Ceiling
Simple painted ceilings integrate recessed LED lighting while allowing skylights to become the primary architectural feature.
The open loft creates dramatic interior volume despite the home's compact footprint.

  • Fully assembled ADU transported intact, including windows, doors, and rooftop landscaping.

  • Flatbed trailer with multiple wheels to support the building's load.

  • Pickup truck acting as the towing vehicle.

  • Low-profile transport configuration to maintain roadway clearance.

  • Modular construction approach, minimizing on-site construction time by completing most of the work off-site before delivery.

Living & Sleeping Spaces
The home's living spaces demonstrate exceptional space planning.
The loft bedroom overlooks the living area while maintaining visual openness through low-profile guardrails and integrated millwork.
A built-in wood platform bed maximizes storage while defining the sleeping area without requiring additional furniture.
The workspace below benefits from natural light, cross ventilation, and views toward the landscape, making the compact home suitable for both living and remote work. Custom floating shelves provide storage while maintaining the minimalist aesthetic.
